Making Home Feel Like Home Again

I spent part of this summer at the beach house where my family has gathered for decades.
I love going away.
But if I'm honest...
I really love coming home.
Coming home this year felt different.
Somewhere between watering tomatoes, rearranging furniture, rewriting pages on my website, and buying an unreasonable number of notebooks, I realized something.
I didn't really rebrand Enchanted Botanicals.
I just moved the energetic furniture.
Sometimes You Don't Need a New Home.
You Just Need to Move the Furniture.
When you rearrange a room, nothing is actually new.
The sofa is the same.
The chair is the same.
The lamp is the same.
But suddenly...
The whole room feels different.
This summer felt a little like that.
I moved a few things around.
Some ideas had outlived their purpose.
Some belonged in different rooms.
A few simply needed more light.
None of it felt dramatic.
It just felt right.
My HOME page feels happily like me now.
Becoming More Yourself
People often talk about reinventing themselves.
I don't think that's what happened here.
This felt less like becoming someone new and more like becoming exactly me.
Instead of forcing myself to make Enchanted Botanicals sound like a business, I started letting it sound like my home (which, if you know, is where EB is based).
That one change quietly changed everything else.
What I Hope You Feel Here
If you've noticed things feeling a little quieter...
A little simpler...
A little less pushy...
You aren't imagining it.
That's on purpose.
Because somewhere along the way I realized that the feeling I wanted to create wasn't excitement.
It was coming home.
Not a perfect home.
A real one.
One where the garden occasionally gets ahead of me.
The pantry has a mind of its own (read the silly, true story here).
A candle is usually burning (you'll find some beautiful candles here).
Finney is probably asleep somewhere.
And you're always welcome.
One Last Thought
It's wonderful to go away.
Travel reminds us how big the world is.
Coming home reminds us why we loved our little corner of it in the first place.
I hope Enchanted Botanicals feels a little like that.
Not somewhere you have to keep up.
Just somewhere you're happy to come back to.
